In a recent clip uploaded to Reddit, user Illustrious_Affect65 has shown what Red Dead Redemption looks like in 4K resolution. Although brief, it shows a much crisper look to the American countryside at the turn of the 20th century. Those who have played the game on the PS3 and Xbox 360 will still recall that, even now, it looks fantastic. And while visuals aren’t everything, it shows what an official remaster could look like, were one to surface.

In fact, that might not be too left of field to imagine. A rumor suggests that next gen remasters of Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 could be in development. It’s been alleged that both entries in the series have been in the works since 2020. While there’s no sign of GTA 6 and the world is currently beign swamped with remakes and remasters, it wouldn’t be too surprising for Rockstar to bring the 2010 Western game back, even after the huge letdown that was the GTA Trilogy remaster.

Taking older games and reimagining them with more modern visuals is something of a trend at the moment. With someone showing what Skyrim would look like in Unreal Engine 5 and another fan doing their own remake of the original Resident Evil 3 but with current-gen graphics, not to mention the upcoming Dead Space remake, now is as good a time as any to reimagine the likes of RDR in 4K resolution.

As some of the best cowboy and western video games out there, both Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 have shown that Rockstar Games is more than capable of creating incredible worlds with compelling stories outside the GTA series. Hopefully, more will be said about the rumored remakes of the two Wild West games, or at the very least, there will be a third entry in the beloved franchise.

Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
